Healthy Schools Summer Academy 2023

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) Healthy Schools Summer Academy (Academy) will be held June 14-15, 2023, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida. The 12th annual Healthy Schools Summer Academy will focus on integrated standards-based health education, physical education, civic and character education and life skills education for the development of healthy, confident, and resilient learners.

District administrators, mental health coordinators, school nurses, curriculum specialists, school counselors and all subject-area teachers, especially health education and physical education teachers, are encouraged to attend. This interactive professional development opportunity will provide information and resources on topics including, but not limited to, Florida’s state academic standards, Required Instruction Planning and Reporting rule, resiliency education, nutrition, physical activity, safe and supportive environments, substance use and abuse prevention, and school connectiveness to ensure the health and wellbeing of students.

The theme for the 2023 Academy will be Healthier Together: Empowering Resilient Students Through Health and Physical Education.

The Academy will accommodate up to 200 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. The registration cost of the academy is $90 per attendee.

Meal Information 

The Academy will provide a boxed lunch for all attendees on Wednesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 15. If you have dietary restrictions, food allergies or other concerns, please indicate so on your registration form.  

Housing Scholarship

The Academy will cover one night at one of the two hotels adjancent to the RP Funding Center for up to 100 participants. To apply, please follow the instructions in the registration form.
